There are some challenges that are unique to being young. Adolescents and young adults often find themselves facing stressors, and may not have had the opportunity yet to develop strong coping skills or positive social supports.
This age presents greater risks of certain social, mental and physical health issues than adults. Being able to open up and share those issues, and then learn some coping mechanisms to help them guide their way through this potentially confusing time has a huge benefit to the mental health of teenagers.
